Celebrating Award-Winning Colleagues!

Congratulations to two IIT team members, Amy Diestler and Tyler Schultz, who have been honored with prestigious awards at the 2024 IT Recognition Awards.

Headshot of Amy DiesterAmy Diestler received the Rising Star Award for her outstanding impact on IT security within SMPH. As the cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance manager, Amy has made IT security accessible and welcoming. Her willingness to engage with staff and liaison with campus, along with her professional growth evidenced by her Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Security Leadership Certification and Certified Information Systems Auditor status, has set her apart. Her nominator highlighted her potential for senior leadership roles in the future, emphasizing the importance of supporting the growth and development of IT staff like Amy.

The Rising Star Award recognizes an IT professional who has been with the university for five or fewer years and whose record reflects exceptional growth in contribution to the profession. It is given to individuals who have demonstrated significant growth in their role or engagement in the larger campus IT community and who show strong evidence of potential for future success and leadership.

Headshot of Tyler SchultzTyler Schultz was awarded the Transformational Achievement Award for his exceptional work in transforming the Shared Services IT department within the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). As the director of Shared Services IT, Tyler centralized IT services for the basic science departments, implemented a strategic and inclusive management approach, and elevated IT support from ad hoc assistance to a trusted advisory role for the supported units. His leadership and dedication have significantly improved the department’s efficiency and effectiveness.

The Transformational Achievement Award recognizes an IT community member who has significantly transformed the university through their efforts on a specific major IT project or initiative. It acknowledges individuals who have gone above and beyond to create or incorporate innovative information or technical solutions that were essential to the success of their projects.
