Lindsay Bolan
What is your current role before the July 1 transition?
I am the Software Solutions Architect at the Department of Family Medicine & Community Health, with a focus on administering the Jira Cloud ticketing system.
What motivated you to pursue this career?
I come from a long line of public servants, so it was important for me to find a workplace that uplifts the local community and gives empathy a strong central role in its culture. I had neither the stamina to become a nurse like my mom nor the strength to become a teacher like my sister, but I always had a knack for technology and a talent for making people feel welcome and understood. I am proud that what I do, in whatever small ways, can support the amazing work of SMPH’s learners, researchers, and faculty.
Why are you excited about the IITC?
I am excited for the chance to work with people from other departments on larger projects. I am always impressed at the level of talent and creativity in SMPH, and there’s a strong desire to save each other frustration by pooling knowledge and effort, as evidenced by the mobile device management workgroup and the Platform X project. Many times I am struggling with a problem, and I have found someone else in SMPH working through the same problem with a solution they are happy to share. I’m looking forward to these small-scale partnerships expanding to help the whole school.
What do you hope the unified IIT team can accomplish together?
I think a lot of us suffer from the same problems of wearing too many hats and not having enough time to implement the solutions we envision, so I hope most that a unified IT service will give us opportunities to create the best possible version of IIT services across the entire school. Having a larger team to share the load is just one step, but creating specialized teams focused on specific service areas will open up new possibilities we might have never been able to accomplish in a single department.

What is your current role before the July 1 transition?
User Support Specialist III for the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and Department of Urology.
What motivated you to pursue this career?
I like to fix things and help people, both of which I get to do in a variety of ways in IT. I took advantage of the opportunities that appeared before me and rolled with the path that unfolded.
Why are you excited about the IITC?
I think it’s great that we are bringing together so many individuals and teams to create a larger “organ” whereby we can achieve more together than we could apart.
What do you hope the unified IIT team can accomplish together?
My hope is that we can fine tune processes and procedures and make the lives of those we serve less complicated and save them time to devote to what they do best.
